Guinea igs are also known as Cavies (pronounced Kay-Vee). They are herbivorous animals and enjoy mostly leafy veggies pellets, timothy hay, alfalfa, etc. Cavies don't require much, but they certaily require vitamin C. This requirement can be met with water supplements and a wide variety in diet. Guina pigs don't generally need much room, only a couple feet of cage per cavy. A few varieties of Guinea Pig are American (the most common), English, Peruvian, Texel, Coronet, Teddy, Rex, and many more. Guinea Pigs are also very easy to buy and breed. The best kind of litters are "Carefresh" and "Yesterday's News", both made of recycled materials. Pine can also be used, but cedar should be avoided.
